Four Seven Lakes players were named to the Class 6A boys All-State Tournament soccer team on Sunday, as the Spartans led the way on the team after claiming the state title.

Hunter Merritt, Aidan Morrison, Gabriel Gonzalez and Ben Aviles Vera were all named to the team after helping the Spartans to the state title.

Hunter Merritt was named to the team the day after being named state championship game MVP. The senior striker scored two goals in both the state semifinal and the state final to lead Seven Lakes to their first ever state tournament win, scoring the winner in extra time in the semifinal, while scoring both of the Spartans goals in the final.

Junior midfielder Morrison was named to the team after proving assists in both the semifinal on Friday and the Final Saturday, while also playing sound defense in the center defensive midfield position and helping lead the Spartans.

Gabriel Gonzlaez was also named to the team after a huge two games. Gonzalez had to provide versatility for the Spartans, moving from his position in midfield to center back because of injuries and excelling in the semifinal and final.

Aviles Vera rounded out the Seven Lakes selections. The junior goalkeeper was terrific through the semis and finals, allowing just two goals through the state tournament while making 10 saves and keeping both Sachse and Dripping Springs in check to help the Spartans to a state title.
