The Fort Bend Teen Service League (FBTSL), a mentoring program of the Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL), is celebrating 20 years of inspiring young women to serve their communities, develop leadership skills and make a meaningful difference throughout Fort Bend County.
For two decades, FBTSL has provided young women with opportunities to grow through hands-on service, philanthropy, educational programming and cultural experiences. Members have contributed thousands of dollars and countless volunteer hours to nonprofit organizations and community initiatives throughout the county, while building lasting friendships and connections along the way.
“As a long-standing member of the Fort Bend Junior Service League and current board liaison to the Fort Bend Teen Service League, I am uplifted by the future generations of leaders who are serving as we celebrate 20 years,” said Charlyn Harris, who also has two daughters in the Teen League. “I wholeheartedly believe in its mission and the impact it has on young women and our community.”
FBTSL’s purpose is exclusively educational and charitable, providing an environment of friendship, goodwill and camaraderie while encouraging members to become engaged citizens and responsible community leaders. The program is designed to give young women meaningful experiences that build confidence, leadership skills and a commitment to service.
As FBTSL marks this milestone year, it looks forward to an exciting 2026–2027 year of service, connection and leadership development. Following another successful membership season, the Teen League welcomes its newest members, bringing together young women in seventh through twelfth grade who reside in Fort Bend County and share an interest in volunteering, serving others and developing their leadership potential.
The official 20th anniversary kickoff took place Sunday, September 13 at Long Acres Ranch, 2335 Richmond Parkway in Richmond, under the theme “Celebrating 20 Years of FBTSL: Where It All Began.” The celebration honored the generations of young women who have shaped the organization’s legacy, reflected on its impact and looked ahead to the next generation of community leaders.
FBTSL is supported by the Fort Bend Junior Service League through organizational guidance and mentorship from a FBJSL Board Liaison, Adult Advisory Committee and adult mentors who are FBJSL members. This partnership provides members with opportunities to learn from experienced community leaders while developing their own skills through service.
For 20 years, FBTSL has empowered young women to lead with purpose, compassion and a commitment to service. As the organization celebrates its history, it continues to invest in the young women who will help shape the future of Fort Bend County.
