June 4 marked the official launch of Fort Bend County’s 2025 Youth Employment Program (YEP), 250 high school and college students were welcomed for a summer of learning, growth, and leadership. The students, selected from across the county, will gain hands-on experience in government operations, professional development, and cultural enrichment throughout their paid internship.

“Today is more than just the first day of work—it’s a launchpad for future success,” said Fort Bend County Judge KP George. “We are proud to invest in our youth by offering meaningful opportunities that prepare them for college, careers, and civic leadership.”

The Youth Employment Program is designed to equip participants with a broad range of life and career skills. Students will be placed in various county departments, where they will receive mentorship, develop job readiness abilities, explore career paths, and deepen their understanding of how local government works.

Throughout the summer, interns will also participate in workshops that focus on financial literacy, leadership, communication, and cultural awareness, reinforcing Fort Bend County’s commitment to holistic youth development.

Judge George added, “This program is about empowering our next generation. We want each student to leave this experience with confidence, competence, and a clearer vision for their future.”

The 2025 YEP cohort reflects the diversity, talent, and ambition of Fort Bend County’s youth. With a focus on equity and opportunity, the program aims to create a lasting impact not just for the participants but for the entire community.
