Flakes named ‘Secondary Teacher of the Year’ by Harmony Public Schools South and West Districts
Harmony Public Schools Houston Districts have named the 2024-2025 Teachers of the Year, the charter school system announced in a May 20 press release.
The Secondary winner for Harmony Public Schools Houston South and West Districts is Angela Flakes, a seventh grade English language arts and reading teacher at Harmony Science Academy - Katy Middle, 22400-C Grand Corner Building C in Katy.
Flakes first joined the school in 2022 as a substitute teacher. She has built a classroom culture where students take ownership of their learning, leading discussions, co-teaching lessons and engaging in thoughtful debates, the district said.
