Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a welfare check at a home in the 1400 block of McGee Lake Court in Richmond Sunday afternoon at about 6 p.m. that turned into a homicide investigation, a FBCSO press release said. The address is in the Waterside Village subdivision south of the Westpark Tollway and east of the Grand Parkway.

Upon their arrival, a man at the residence said he had just shot his stepfather. The suspect, Juwan Williams, 24, was detained without incident. Shortly thereafter, a shooting victim was located inside the home. The victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

Williams has been booked into the Fort Bend County Jail and has been charged with murder. A bond has been set at $200,000.

The victim of the shooting has been identified as Herbert Inman, 49, of Richmond.

Investigators have not determined what led to the fatal shooting.

“Resorting to this level of family violence will never resolve problems,” said Sheriff Eric Fagan. “Our hearts go out to the family and neighbors who have been affected by this tragedy.”
