Edward Lee Wisener, 87, of Katy, Texas, passed away on November 5, 2025, in League City, Texas. Ed was born in Houston, Texas on November 15, 1937. Ed was a dedicated family man and a member of Holy Covenant United Methodist Church. He was a man with many names including Uncle Ed, Sug, Papa, Dad, and Pops. He was a quiet man always willing to help anyone in need. He was beloved by his neighbors and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman. He took his boys hunting and fishing from an early age.
Ed joined the Texas National Guard in November 1954 and was discharged in November 1956. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and took his basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas. He was sent to school at Fort Devens, Massachusetts and then to New Jersey. Ed was then deployed to Germany and stayed there the rest of his enlistment. He was a security carrier for the Army Security Agency and was discharged as a SP4 in 1959.
Upon discharge, he worked in the steel fabrication business furnishing steel for buildings, bridges, and nuclear power plants. Later he supervised the construction of offshore drilling platforms.
Ed retired November 2002. He was married for 48 years but lost the love of his life, Flora, to cancer in 2008. Ed joined Holy Covenant in 2008 and spent many hours repairing and reworking items that needed fixing throughout the church. At the Heartwarming Craft Show, you could see the beautiful wooden cars, trucks and more that Ed made to sell at the show. His items brought generous donations to be passed on to missions. He went on mission trips to rebuild homes and a church after storm disasters in both Galveston and Florida.
He is survived by his son, Donald Wisener and his wife Gloria; his son, Douglas Wisener and his wife Kimberly; his brother, William Eugene Wisener and his wife Kathy; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather to honor Ed’s memory on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church – 22111 Mortan Ranch Road Katy, Texas.
He will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery in private service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in his name to the Holy Covenant United Methodist Church Women’s Ministry which sponsors the Heartwarming Craft Show or the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
