Katy ISD teacher receives Teachers of Tomorrow scholarship

Shannon Chavez of Katy has been awarded a New Teacher Scholarship from Teachers of Tomorrow, the nation’s largest alternative certification provider. The organization awarded 20 scholarships to the next generation of teachers in several states in which it operates.

“Our children today are the future leaders of tomorrow,” Chavez said. “I want to be a part of something greater than myself.”

Chavez is one of four aspiring teachers in the Greater Houston area to receive the scholarship. With this scholarship, Teachers of Tomorrow covers the entire program fee to reduce the financial burden of changing careers.

Other Houston-area teachers receiving scholarships were Yasmin Moreno, of Humble; Dominique Shaw, of Houston; and Braden Baikauskas, of Kingwood.

Teachers of Tomorrow said its goal is to supply schools with high-quality, passionate teachers to make a difference in the classroom.
