Drucilla M Powell Shank of Katy, Texas died on March 22, 2025.
Born, Alvina Drucilla Moore in Galveston, Texas on May 19, 1940, to parents Thomas K. and Alvina Cecilia (Gremillion) Moore, “Dru” attended school in Texas City, Texas and was a 1958 graduate of Texas City High School before attending Lamar State College in Beaumont, Texas. She moved to Houston where she met Raymond Allen Powell, and married in 1967. She and Allen moved to Alief, Texas in 1970 before settling in Katy in 1977. She was a member of Katy First United Methodist Church where she served on the Altar Guild. Dru enjoyed spending time with her loving husband Allen in activities like hunting and fishing, square dancing, and attending their children’s activities. Dru spent many years working as a computer programmer for various oil-related companies before retiring from Exxon Chemical. In 2009 she married Denny Shank. She and her beloved Denny enjoyed traveling the world on many cruises, spending time with friends in Pearland and Katy, and doting on their many combined grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Drucilla was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allen, sister Julia Jan, and her brother Thomas. She is survived by her husband Denny, children Raymond (Kathy) Powell, John (Kathy) Powell, Julie (Keith) Maroul, brother Kenneth Moore, sister-in-law Patricia, and grandchildren Allison Powell, Joshua Powell, Mason Powell, Andie Powell, Heath Maroul.
Visitation will be held at Schmidt Funeral Home 1508 East Ave Katy, Texas on April 2, 2025 at 5:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery 6801 Franz Rd Katy, Texas on April 3, 2025 at 10:30 AM.
