Darlene Alcorn
Darlene Alcorn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born on November 12, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, to Anthony Paul Demith and Florence Emma Seidler. Sister to Irene, Robert, Raymond, Richard, and Ronald; Darlene grew up in Cook County, Illinois, where she developed the strong values and qualities that would define her life.
On March 8, 1957, Darlene married the love of her life, Lester Alcorn, in Lockport, Illinois. Darlene was a woman of many talents and passions. She was an accomplished crafter, finding joy in crocheting blankets for her family and friends. Her baking was memorable, with her famous banana bread being a favorite. She also had a penchant for old movies and the thrill of the casino.
Darlene had a sweet and thoughtful demeanor, combined with a strong work ethic that inspired those around her. Her sense of humor could brighten the darkest of days, and her sincerity and consideration for others left an indelible impact on everyone she encountered. Her laughter and smiles were authentic and could light up any room.
After a dedicated 30-year career as a head custodian at Memorial Parkway Elementary in Katy ISD, Darlene retired and transitioned into another meaningful chapter of her life. She spent several years caring for the children of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, nurturing their growth and sharing her love generously.
Darlene is survived by her children, William J. Alcorn and his spouse Suzanne, Gerald A. Alcorn and his spouse Monica, and Darlene Ann Alcorn; grandchildren, Jeff, Jerry, Joshua, Brandon, Brent, Heather, and Aaron; and great grandchildren, Anthony, Railyn, and Kamryn. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a source of immense joy and pride for her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lester Alcorn; and her son, Lester Alcorn Jr.
