Daniel Robert “Donnie” Heinrich was born on October 4, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas to Leo Othmar and Meta Seidel Heinrich. When Donnie was four years old, his family moved to Houston. In 1958, Donnie’s family moved to Katy, where he soon began working on the Sidney Grisbee Dairy Farm with his father. On June 26, 1965, he married Johnnie Maxine Hooker at Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy. He spent 20 years working for Builder Supply Co. as a mechanic working on cement mixers before opening his own business, Donnie’s Auto and Welding in Katy. He retired from the business in 2017. Donnie loved spending time and fishing at his lake house on Lake Livingston in Trinity, Texas. He also enjoyed taking trips to the Coushatta Casino in Louisiana.
Donnie Heinrich passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at his home in Houston, at the age of 74.
He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Maxine Heinrich; grandchildren, Lauren Taylor Sandifer, Johnnie Leighann Sandifer, Danielle Maxine Thaxton, and Dylan Everett Thaxton; siblings, Junita Dyer of Columbus, Ohio, Leo Heinrich of Bonifay, Florida, Carolyn Whitenack in Milano, Texas, and Ervin Heinrich of Katy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Donna Thaxton and Leslie Sandifer; and siblings, Elgin Heinrich and Helen Haseloff.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Memorial Lutheran Church, in Katy, with Rev. John F. Davis, Jr. officiating.
