The Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) Board of Directors has confirmed that Deysi Crespo announced her resignation as Executive Director effective Monday October 28, 2024, after nearly 17 years of service beginning her journey as a volunteer.
Crespo has been involved with Katy Christian Ministries since 2007 beginning as a volunteer at the Resale Store and also as a volunteer as a support group facilitator for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, according to the organization’s website. She joined the staff as a Prevention Specialist for Sexual Abuse in 2008, followed by becoming a client advocate, Crisis Center director, development coordinator, and ultimately becoming the executive director in 2014.
In her resignation letter to the Board, Deysi noted that her “heart will always be with KCM, and I wish continued success. I have enjoyed working with the staff, volunteers and our wonderful community. Thank you for the opportunity you have given me to lead, learn and grow.”
KCM has grown five-fold in the last ten years under Deysi’s leadership, with more than 50 employees, operating in four locations across four main service lines and 20 sub service lines, servicing 12 zip codes in and around the Katy area, according to a statement from the organization.
“She has led the organization to a higher dimension, working strategically and steadfast with her management team, Board of Directors and stakeholders,” according to Crespo’s staff profile on the KCM website. “Under her leadership, the organization has become a trauma-informed care agency, achieved the top 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator and has received other valuable recognitions and accreditations from GuideStar, Better Business Bureau of Greater-Houston, and the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability, all which validate transparency, ethical standards of responsible stewardship, and outcomes-driven approach.”
Under Crespo, Katy Christian Ministries received the Harvey Response award in May 2019 from The Houston Food Bank for its quick response and relief work after Hurricane Harvey, even with the agency itself being flooded during the storm.
Crespo also oversaw the property acquisition and relocation of the KCM administrative offices and food pantry from 5510 First Street in Katy to its current home at 3506 Porter Road in Katy in 2022.
“The Board of Directors would like to thank Deysi for her dedication and commitment to KCM throughout her years of service, wishing her much happiness and success in her future endeavors,” said a spokesperson for KCM.
In appreciation for Crespo’s service to KCM, there will be an open house to wish her well as she begins a new chapter. The event will be held on Monday, October 28, at the KCM administrative offices at 3506 Porter Road in Katy from 3 to 5 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited.
The Board of Directors will be working closely with Deysi during her transition to ensure seamless operations while maintaining continuity in serving the community as they begin their search for KCM’s next Executive Director. The Board’s goal is to set up KCM for success with continued growth, making it a rewarding and enjoyable place to work, according to the KCM spokesperson.
