Cooking Well with Diabetes class in August

For those with Type 2 diabetes, Cooking Well with Diabetes is right around the corner.
Come and learn how to prepare food with flair in this year’s classes. In addition to the teaching, participants will hear from area health and nutrition professionals and will learn how to make ordinary meals extraordinary meals on site by preparing dishes using simple ingredients.
The classes are scheduled for Aug. 5, 12 and 19. Classes begin at 6:30 p.m. with food preparation at the Austin County Courthouse basement meeting room (1 East Main, Bellville). Pre-registration runs until July 30 and the cost for the program is $30 per person. Add $10 after July 29. First 10 participants to register will have their names entered into a drawing for a door prize.
Caregivers of type 2 diabetes individuals are encouraged to participate. The primary goal is to help participants learn how to manage their meal plan and self-care to maintain their blood glucose in the ranges recommended by the American Diabetes Association. The program is sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Bellville Medical Center, and the Department of State Health and Human Services.
