LaCenterra to light the Christmas tree on November 22

The highly-anticipated tree lighting at LaCenterra – Katy’s premier shopping destination – will take place on November 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will also include inflatable snow gloves, photo experiences, holiday musical performances, community activity vendors and holiday costume characters and performers. The shopping center is at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd. in Katy.


Park Place at the Boardwalk to host second annual Thanksgiving Eve event on November 27

R. C. Simmons, owner of the Park Place at the Boardwalk Steakhouse in Katy, is hosting his second “Annual Thanksgiving Eve Community Feeding” event on November 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. to bring the holiday to families that might not otherwise be able to celebrate. There is no cost to participating families but pre-registration is required. Call 832-344-3407 for registration information. The restaurant is located at 25551 Kingsland in Katy.

20th annual ‘Messiah Singalong’ to be held December 1 at St. Peter’s UMC

Each year the choir and orchestra of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church offer a Messiah Singalong for the Katy and surrounding communities. The event—now in its twentieth year -- features a full orchestra, professional soloists, and the choir is made up of members of St. Peters Chancel Choir and singers throughout the community who love to sing the Messiah during the Christmas season each year. The Messiah Singalong event will be held on Sunday, December 1 at 7 p.m. in the St. Peters sanctuary at 20775 Kingsland Blvd, Katy. Light up the season with the City of Katy on December 5

Kick off the holiday season with the City of Katy as we gather to light up the City of Katy Christmas tree on the Historic Town Square at 904 Avenue C in Katy. Enjoy festive music, warm treats, a visit from Santa himself, plus lots of surprises! There will be food trucks, hot chocolate and cookie decorating stations, life-size snow globes and music from DJ Max. The event is from 6 to 8 p.m. on December 5 and is free to attend.

Katy Market Days holds ‘Old Fashioned Christmas’ market on December 7

Come to 5715 Second Street in Katy for the14th annual Katy Old Fashioned Christmas event featuring 225 vendors, food trucks, entertainment, beer garden, free foam snow park, inflatables for the kids, Santa and lots of surprises! Local shops on the historic square will all be open for your holiday shopping too. Proceeds from the free family-friendly event will go to Katy Christian Ministry – donations of canned food are requested. The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 7.

Maud Marks Library to hold last book sale of the year on December 7

The Friends of Maud Marks Library (FOMML) will be holding the last used book sale of the yearat the library, 1815 Westgreen Boulevard, Katy, on Saturday, December 7, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Presale viewing and sales (cash or check only) will be available to members of FOMML on Friday, December 6 from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Annual memberships can be purchased at the door for $10. All funds earned from the sale are used to support library programs offered to the community, such as the senior bus trips and the summer reading program.Books (adult or children’s, fiction, nonfiction, reference, foreign language, etc.) that you would like to donate to the sale are now being accepted. Please put them, during library hours, in the bins inside the entrance.


Bring a ‘fur-ever’ friend home for the holidays at Special Pals’ December 7 adoption event

Come join the fun at the Special Pals shelter for an animal adoption event on December 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. The whole family can enjoy inflatables, a silent auction and music and more. There will be vendors and food trucks too. Photos with Santa are available for a suggested donation of $20.00. The shelter is located at 3830 Greenhouse Road in Houston.

Celebrate the holiday with Katy Heritage Society and the Lone Star Symphonic Band on December 7 at the annual ‘Old Fashioned Christmas’

The Lone Star Symphonic Band will ring in the Christmas season on December 7 at 6 p.m. at Katy Heritage Park,5990 George Bush Drive in Katy. Staged on the park’s historic bandstand, the musical group will play all your holiday favorites. This is a ticketed event. Tickets are available now and can be purchased at www.katyheritagesociety.com/events. The evening will also include a tour of the historic houses with their decorated trees, warm cocoa, Christmas carolers, vintage Christmas crafts for all ages, letter-writing to Santa, and a scavenger hunt around the park. Donate to the Katy Police Department’s toy drive now through December 13

‘Jingle and Mingle’ on December 10 to support local nonprofit Katy Responds

Katy Responds, a local nonprofit which helps those impacted by natural and personal disasters restore the safety and security of their homes, will be holding a “Jingle and Mingle” fundraiser on December 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Katy Beer Garden, 5345 E. Third in Katy. The evening will feature festive fun with refreshments, and heartfelt stories of resilience and recovery. Individual tickets are $25.00 and four tickets may be purchased for $80.00.
