Brookshire to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with events May 5-6

The City of Brookshire is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with events set for May 5-6.

May 5 events are set for 7-11 p.m. at the Trading Market, 1042 Stalknecht Road in Brookshire. A dinner with music from a mariachi band is set for 7-8 p.m., with a cultural dress contest preceding a dance that will run from 9-11 p.m.

May 6 events are set for 9 a.m.-8 p.m. at Hovis Park, 1412 FM 359 in South Brookshire. At 9 a.m. parade participants will gather at the Brookshire Police Department. At 10 a.m., the parade will begin walking to Hovis Park. From 12-8 p.m., the park will host a variety of adult and kids’ events, including live music and a soccer tournament.

Brookwood Community to hold spring extravaganza May 4-6

Brookwood’s Annual Spring Extravaganza is May 4-6 at the Brookwood Community, 1752 FM 1489 in Brookshire.

Visitors can shop at Brookwood’s retail store filled with the handcrafted products and gorgeous spring flowers for upcoming events such as Mother’s Day and graduations. Visitors can enjoy a wine and beer bar in the garden, along with a lunch buffet at Brookwood Café.

Local photographer completes fine art portraiture course

Pattison-based photographer Sandy Buller has completed the Fine Art Portraiture course at the Texas School of Professional Photography under the guidance of William Branson, III, a renowned photographer with over 47 years of experience.

Buller’s passion for photography started early in life, and he has since honed his craft through various workshops and seminars. His completion of the Fine Art Portraiture course marks a significant milestone in his career, as he now possesses advanced skills and techniques needed to create exceptional portraits.

“I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to learn from William Branson, III and to be a part of the Texas School of Professional Photography,” Buller said. “The course has allowed me to push my boundaries and explore new techniques that I can use to capture the essence and beauty of my subjects.”

Buller specializes in creating classical and/or contemporary portraits that capture the unique personality and spirit of each subject.

Fulshear Church of Christ invites families to Babylon: Daniel’s Courage in Captivity

Fulshear Church of Christ, 9241 Charger Way in Fulshear, is hosting a family event, called Babylon, which is set for 6-8:30 p.m. June 1-2.

Kids ages 3-12 step back in time to Babylon, exploring Daniel’s adventures as a captive in a foreign land. Kids participate in a memorable Bible-times marketplace, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into Bible-times snacks, visit Daniel, and collect Bible Memory Makers to remind them of God’s Word. Plus, everyone learns to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes at Celebration—a time of upbeat worship that gets everyone involved.
