Becky McGrew, who serves as the City Secretary for the City of Katy, has been elected as president of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association Salt Grass Chapter. Accompanied by joined by Mayor Dusty Thiele, City Administrator Byron Hebert, and Assistant City Secretary Sindira Guerrero, McGrew was sworn in at the organization’s annual banquet during ceremonies on December 11.

City Secretary McGrew elected 2025 president of Texas Municipal Clerks Association Salt Grass Chapter

Becky McGrew, who serves as the City Secretary for the City of Katy, has been elected as president of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association Salt Grass Chapter. Accompanied by joined by Mayor Dusty Thiele, City Administrator Byron Hebert, and Assistant City Secretary Sindira Guerrero, McGrew was sworn in at the organization’s annual banquet during ceremonies on December 11.

“I am truly honored to serve as the 2025 president of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association Salt Grass Chapter,” McGrew said in an email to the Katy Times. “Since 1967, the Chapter has been committed to enhancing professionalism in City Clerk and Secretary Offices across Texas Municipal League Region 14. Through monthly meetings, we provide continuing education on city government topics, raise money for scholarships, and create opportunities for networking, problem-solving, and sharing critical information with fellow clerks and their staff.”

“Being joined by our Mayor, City Administrator, Assistant City Secretary, and Records Specialist as I took my oath of office was a special moment for me.” McGrew said. “As many of you know, City Secretaries are very particular about how work gets done—so to be elected by my peers is not only flattering but incredibly meaningful. I am proud to represent the City of Katy in this capacity, and I hope to honor the incredible leaders who have served before me while bringing my own love of leadership and values to this role.”

McGrew has served as City Secretary since October 2019 . The City Secretary is designated as the City’s Records Management Officer by City Ordinance and is responsible for the care and maintenance of all City records, including all City Council minutes, agendas, ordinances, resolutions, deeds, easements, plats, contracts, and historical information, according to the City of Katy’s website.
