City of Pattison to hold meetings to consider zoning

The City of Pattison will hold two meetings to consider the establishment of zoning within the small but rapidly-growing community, which is located north of Brookshire in Waller County.

Meetings have been scheduled at Pattison City Hall at 5410 First Street in Pattison as follows:

· Regular city council meeting, October 8 at 6 p.m.

· Special zoning meeting, October 15 at 6 p.m.

Zoning encompasses land use and development regulations, according to the flyer promoting the meetings, which was posted on Facebook by local Pattison businessman Sandy Bueller on September 29. According to the flyer, Pattison is considering adopting a zoning ordinance as a tool to:

· Plan for future growth and development

· Protect established neighborhoods

· Encourage appropriate development

· Support local businesses and economic development

· Protect property values and community character

· Coordinate development with infrastructure

· Establish consistent development expectations

“As our community grows, zoning will help us plan responsibly – not reactively – making sure Pattison remains a safe, vibrant and welcoming place to live, work and invest,“ the flyer said.
