Cinco Ranch Coach Dudley named Texans ‘Coach of the Week’ After fourth-straight win

The morning film session ended on a high note for the Cinco Ranch Cougars on October 22. As the team prepared to wrap up and head to class, cameras, cheer leaders and Houston Texans representatives rushed into the film room, surprising Cinco Ranch High School Head Football Coach Chris Dudley with the Houston Texans Coach of the Week award and a $2,500.00 donation check from the Houston Texans Foundation to benefit the football program.

“The kids are why we do this,” Dudley said. “To be able to receive this reward and highlight all the hard work and the sacrifices they’ve made for this season was amazing. Accepting the Texans Coach of the Week Award is a testament to our coaches, our administration and community members who support us every week, because they are such a critical part of our success.”

Katy ISD Superintendent Ken Gregorski and Executive Director of Athletics Lance Carter joined players and coaching staff at the practice field to celebrate the honor. Dudley accepted a signed certificate from Houston Texans Head Coach DeMeco Ryans nearly one week after the Cougars’ thrilling 35–28 victory over Tompkins High School that extended the team’s win streak to four games.

“What he’s doing on the field and for this community stood out,” Houston Texans Director of Football Development Brett Stewart said. “Coach Dudley is not only an awesome person, but he sets a great example of leadership for his football program and the school. It is something that we admire. So, we want to recognize him and highlight his program.”

Dudley’s Cougars have surpassed last season’s win total and earned second place in the district 19-6A standings with a 5-1 record in one of the most competitive districts in the Houston area.

Each week, the Houston Texans recognize one high school head coach across the Greater Houston area for outstanding team performance, sportsmanship and community impact. Honorees are selected through the Texans’ Coach of the Week nomination process, which highlights coaches who make a positive difference both on and off the field.

The $2,500.00 contribution can be directed to either the Cinco Ranch football program or booster club for student-athlete support and program development, school officials said.

Coach Dudley’s selection also makes him eligible for the Houston Texans Coach of the Year Award, which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2025 football season.
