Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigators responded to a call from a 15-year-old boy that his deceased 9-year-old brother’s body had been left in the bedroom next to his for about a year, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said via social media. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found the remains of a small child in the apartment at 3535 Green Crest Drive.

In addition to the teen who had called in to police, officers found two boys under the age of 10 residing in the apartment at the CityParc II at West Oaks Apartments, just southeast of the Barker Reservoir.

No adults had lived in the home for several months according to the teen, Gonzalez said. The boys’ mother and her boyfriend were located and interviewed, then released. No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation remains active, Gonzalez added.

The children are now in the county’s custody and have been treated for minor injuries at local hospitals.

Anyone with information regarding this situation is encouraged to call 713-274-9100, Gonzalez said.
