Coastal Prairie Conservancy and the CenterPoint Energy Foundation continue to work together to conserve vital coastal prairie in southeast Texas. With a $75,000.00 grant from the CenterPoint Energy Foundation, Coastal Prairie Conservancy will further its mission of conservation and community outreach through the completion of priority conservation projects and the continuation of education and outreach programming, said a joint statement from the two organizations.

Representatives of both organizations recently gathered at the Indiangrass Preserve in Waller, where they walked the beautiful Ann Hamilton Trail and enjoyed the sights and sounds of spring on the prairie.

“CenterPoint Energy is proud to support the Coastal Prairie Conservancy in conserving coastal prairie for current and future generations,” said CenterPoint Energy’s Geoffrey Castro.

Mary Anne Piacentini, President and Chief Executive Officer for Coastal Prairie Conservancy, noted that prairie and wetlands conservation is important for the wildlife in the area, providing rich habitat for resident and migratory waterfowl, as well as a haven for individuals and families to enjoy nature. "Thanks to the generous support of the CenterPoint Energy Foundation, we can amplify our conservation and outreach efforts on the Katy Prairie Preserve near Houston,” she said.
