Brookshire Katy DD groundbreaking
Members of the board and staff members for the Brookshire Katy Drainage district pose at the organization’s June 17 groundbreaking for their new administration building at 1111 Kenney in Brookshire. “This has been a project for close to 20 years, but now is the right time,” said BKDD general manager Stan Kitzman. The 6,368 square-foot facility – which Kitzman said will be built without debt -- is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025, according to representatives of Commercial Construction & Maintenance, Inc., which is building the project. The Brookshire Katy Drainage District handles over 70 miles of channels in the area and has an annual budget of over $4 million, over $7 billion in valuations, still maintaining a tax rate of 6 cents.
