Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston (BGCGH) has opened registration for its 2026–2027 school-year afterschool programs at 20 Clubs across five counties, including Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Waller and Wharton, the organization announced on August 11. Programs operate from 3 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, throughout the school year.

The organization serves the Brookshire area through the Royal ISD club, housed at 2500 Durkin Road in Brookshire.

BGCGH provides youth ages 6 to 17 with a safe, supportive environment where they can learn, grow and build skills for success. After-school programming includes nutritious meals, homework help and tutoring, organized athletics, character development, arts activities and field trips.

More than 60,000 youth participate in BGCGH’s afterschool and summer programs each year. The school-year program costs $50 per child, with scholarships available for families who need financial assistance.

Academic success and preparation for college and careers are key components of BGCGH’s programming, particularly for high school students. Through college-preparation and workforce-development programs, BGCGH helps put its members on a path toward graduation and future success. This work reflects the organization’s national campaign tagline, “Great Futures Start Here.”

“Our Clubs offer effective, proven programs focused on the core pillars of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship and Workforce Readiness, all designed to empower kids and teens within a safe and welcoming space,” says Kevin Hattery, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston. “We work to mitigate learning loss and help our members read and do math at grade level through afterschool mentoring and tutoring.”

Parents and guardians are encouraged to explore BGCGH’s programs and enroll their children at a Club near them. Registration is available throughout the school year, including after classes begin, and no child is turned away because of a late enrollment. Families can select their nearest Club and register online through the parent portal. Payment can be made online by debit or credit card. Families may also register and pay in person at their local Club.

BGCGH is also hiring for several positions, including Youth Development Specialists, and seeking volunteers to assist with tutoring, coaching and computer skills.

Community members who are unable to volunteer can support BGCGH by making a donation. Corporate and individual contributions help fund year-round programs that provide children and teens with educational, recreational and developmental opportunities.
