Blinn to celebrate enrollment milestone with scholarship

Posted

The Blinn College District will celebrate an enrollment milestone with scholarships that will cover fall 2019 tuition and fees for one lucky student.

Blinn officials are seeking to enroll 20,000 students for the first time in the college’s 136-year history. To mark the occasion, Blinn will randomly select one of the first 20,000 students to register for a scholarship covering all fall semester tuition and fees.

“We hope this scholarship encourages students to register early and enjoy all the benefits of a Blinn College education, whether they choose to take classes online or at one of Blinn’s five campuses,” said Karen Buck, vice chancellor for student services and administration.

To be eligible for the scholarships, students must register and arrange payment. The fall semester begins Monday, Aug. 26, and registration is available through Sunday, Aug. 25.

Prospective students can apply to Blinn via the ApplyTexas.org application. Once admitted, they can register for classes at https://my.blinn.edu or in person at the Brenham Campus Administration Building (802 Green St.), Bryan Tejas Center (3125 Texas Ave., Suite 1900), Schulenburg Campus (100 Ranger Dr.), or Sealy Campus (3701 Outlet Mall Dr., Suite 250). Blinn recommends that all students visit with an academic advisor, and students can chat online with a Blinn admissions specialist between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at www.blinn.edu/admissions.

Blinn offers courses online and at its Brenham, Bryan, RELLIS, Schulenburg, and Sealy campuses. Blinn Online offers students greater flexibility in scheduling their courses, and academic and student support are available through the college’s online student portal, myBLINN. Blinn offers a variety of resources for students considering online courses at www.blinn.edu/online, including an orientation course, tips for taking an online course, tutorials, and frequently asked questions.

At the RELLIS Campus, Blinn courses transfer seamlessly into the four-year bachelor’s degree programs offered by The Texas A&M University System regional universities also located onsite. For more information, visit www.blinn.edu/RELLIS.

Blinn’s academic transfer rate is the highest in the state, according to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and Blinn has partnered with Texas A&M University to develop pioneering co-enrollment programs such as the Texas A&M-Blinn TEAM Program, the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Bryan, and the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Brenham.

In addition to Blinn’s low tuition and fees, the Blinn Foundation offers more than 200 endowed scholarships available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences. Current and prospective students can complete a single application to apply for all Blinn scholarships at www.blinn.edu/scholarships.
