Three outstanding Austin County students each received $1,000 scholarships from the Austin County Livestock Association.
These awards were made at the annual association meeting on June 6 at the Cat Spring Agricultural Society Hall. Receiving the scholarships were Meghan Hein, daughter of Ronnie and Leann Hein, Canute Janish, son of Kenneth and Dena Janish, and Aunnika Wittner, daughter of Ronnie and Janae Wittner.
A program on “fake beef” was presented by Joe Pascal, who is an extension livestock specialist. Prior to the program, Pascal also provided a presentation for two hours of C.E.U. credit.
Four directors who were re-elected were: Lew Ellyn Gross, Justin Hold, J.D. McKay, and Herbert Schumann. A meal of barbecue beef and pork with all the trimmings was served prior to the meeting.
