American Legion commemorates 25th anniversary of 911
Dennis Wells, commander of Katy’s American Legion Post 164, leads special ceremonies held in partnership with the American Legion Auxiliary in recognition of the 25th anniversary of 911 at the post at 22125 Kingsland Blvd. in Katy on September 11. The event included the ceremonial ringing of the firefighter’s bell signaling the end of a duty shift that will never be completed again. City of Katy Mayor Dusty Thiele lay the commemorative wreath and also presented a proclamation. The keynote speaker was Daniel Rodriguez (inset), Chief Operations Officer for Harris County Precinct 4, who joined the Marines after 911. “My country needed me,” he said. Texas State Representative Mike Schofield also spoke at the event.
