Presented by the City of Katy and the Rotary Club of Katy, the annual Rice Harvest Festival returns to Katy’s historic downtown square at Second Street and Avenue C for two days, October 12-13.

Saturday features a full day of great craft vendors, live music, food trucks and much more, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., including a kids/teen zone, craft beer, and expanded food area. Free shuttle service to and from the Merrell Center at 6301 S. Stadium Lane in Katy is available all day.

New this year on Saturday is the Rice Cooking contest, where local chefs of all ages can show off their best rice dishes for a chance to win first, second or third place prizes or the People’s Choice award. Dishes must include rice as the main ingredient, and entries will be judged on taste, creativity and overall impression. The contest tent will be set up near KT Antiques at 5614 Second Street, just off the square. Entry deadline was October 2.

The fun continues on Sunday, October 13, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. with more time to shop, eat and enjoy live music. Free shuttle service to and from the Merrell Center at 6301 S. Stadium Lane in Katy is available all day.
