Tompkins and Taylor both fell in the bi-district round of the playoffs, as the two programs strong seasons came to an end in the first round of the playoffs on Friday.

Tompkins lost in a hard fought one-game playoff with Ridge Point, falling 16-8 after a back and forth matchup.

Ridge Point got things going offensively from the start, scoring three runs in the top of the first. Tompkins though came right back with three runs of its own in the bottom of the inning, getting runs off an error, a bases loaded walk and a Cami Hearn single. Ridge Point went ahead again in the third with a solo home run, but Tompkins answered back tying it when they got a run off an error before Hearn drove in a run on a single and another on a bases loaded walk to go up by two runs.

But the Panthers weren’t done offensively, they answered back with a five run inning in the fourth before adding another run in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Tompkins tried to mount a comeback, getting runs on a passed ball and a steal of home in the sixth, but they weren’t able to do enough in the end as Ridge Point hung on for the win, scoring three more in the seventh to seal things.

Tompkins finishes the season with a record of 15-11.

Taylor fell in two games to George Ranch in their series, as they kept things close but were unable to win in 0-5 and 3-5 losses.

The Mustangs were never able to get anything going in their game 1 loss where they went scoreless. George Ranch got one run in the second and two in the third, but Taylor’s lineup only mustered one hit.

In game two, it was a closely fought game. Taylor took the lead in the first when Katherine Brunner hit an RBI double. But George Ranch came back to tie the game in the third inning and then took the lead with two runs in the fifth.

George Ranch added another run in the sixth, but Taylor mounted a comeback, scoring two runs on a Brunner home run in the bottom of the inning. George Ranch though, sealed it with another run in the seventh before hanging onf or the win.

Taylor ends the season with a 19-12-1 record and was the Mustangs first trip to the playoffs in 12 seasons.
