Chase West, a Democrat who is running for Texas House District 132, meets with constituents at a candidate “meet and greet” at Fuzzy’s Pizza, 613 S. Mason Road on April 25. West listed his top priorities as universal health care and education. He said that he would like to see the Medicaid program expanded, and championed raises for teachers. West said that he opposes school vouchers and that, while he is not against charter schools, he would like to look further into how effective these schools are. “A lot of these are just flying by the seat of their pants,” he said. West said that he would also like to see the state make better use of solar power and to make it accessible for all Texans.
