Tompkins and Jordan competed in the first day of the state 7-on-7 tournament on Friday, competing in the pool stages in College Station for a chance to advance to the championship bracket.
Tompkins advanced out of Pool M to the championship bracket, while Jordan will compete in the consolation bracket after coming up just short of advancing.
The Falcons went 2-1 in the group stage, finishing second in Pool M to Austin Westlake, who went 3-0.
Tompkins fell in their first game of the day to Westlake 38-21 before bouncing back with two wins, 45-20 over Eastlake and 20-14 over Red Oak to make it out of the group and into the championship bracket.
Jordan played a hard fought three games that were all decided by one score or less, but ended the day with a 1-2 record, finishing third in Pool A and falling to the consolation bracket. The Warriors dropped their first game of the day to Lake Dallas 25-21 before bouncing back with a win over Odessa 27-26, but fell in their last game of the day to Pflugerville Weiss 34-28. The Warriors finished third in the pool, behind Lake Dallas and Weiss.
Jordan will play Klein Cain, which finished 1-2in Pool I to tie for third in their pool. in the first round of the consolation bracket at 8 a.m., with the winner advancing to play Cy-Falls or Lamar in the second round of the consolation bracket.
Tompkins will play DeSoto at 8:45 a.m., Desoto went 2-1 in Pool E, tying Arlington Seguin for first out of the pool. The winner will advance to play Lake Belton or Lake Travis in the second round of the championship bracket.
