A duo of Cinco Ranch Cougars and one Katy Tiger were named to this year’s Texas High School Coaches Association Class 6A Super Elite Team, with Brock DeYoung and Lucas Franco from Cinco Ranch and Connor Udland from Katy getting the nod and being named to the team after exceptional seasons.

DeYoung and Franco were the backbone of a Cinco Ranch team won the district 19-6A Championship and went three rounds deep in the playoffs. The Cougars had a record of 27-8-4, clinching their second straight district title and making it to the third round for the second straight year.

Udland was a huge key for Katy’s success this year. He was named the district’s MVP after cementing himself as the Tigers ace throughout the year and helping Katy reach the third round of the playoffs for the third straight season. Katy had a record of 25-12 and finished second in District 19-6A.

Cinco Ranch was one of only two schools to have two players named to the team and Katy ISD was the only school district with three players selected to the team. The trio made up three of the four Houston area players named to the team, along with George Ranch’s Blake Beheler, who was named the Super Elite Team’s MVP. Katy ISD was the only school district to place three players on the team of 15.

The Teas High School Coaches Association Super Elite Teams consist of high school players nominated by current members of the THSCA and the players must meet the award criteria to be nominated. The award recognizes student athletes across the state for their exemplary athletic achievement in their respective sport.
