The Royal ISD chapter of the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) was honored at the district’s school board meeting on September 9 for their outstanding achievements at the National Educators Rising Conference, held this summer in Washington, D.C.

For the second year in a row, the Royal TAFE students were victorious on the national stage with Areli Valdez and Alexcia Garcia earning first place in the Spanish Children's Literature category. Kimberly Pedraza and Eleanor Recinos received red ribbons in the Interactive Bulletin Board event, while Leslie Thompson qualified for Nationals in Children's Literature.

The students competed against over 900 participants in the Area 4 competition, then advanced to the TAFE state competition with over 3,000 students, and ultimately winning at Nationals, where more than 3,000 competitors from across the nation participated.

CTE Education & Training Instructor Lynette Beyer, the TAFE advisor at Royal High School, expressed her pride in the students' hard work and commitment, celebrating their continued success as champions for the second consecutive year. Beyer herself was previously honored by TAFE as the Area IV Teacher of the Year in late 2023.
