The playoff field is set for District 19-6A, as the season came down to the last day to decide seeding and which teams would get in the playoffs.
Katy came away as district champions, while Tompkins took the two seed in the district, with Seven Lakes claiming the third seed with a win over Cinco Ranch on the last day of the regular season, and Cinco Ranch getting the fourth and final playoff spot after losing to Seven Lakes.
Taylor narrowly missed out on the playoffs by one game, finishing district with a 9-7 record, while Paetow Jordan, Mayde Creek and Morton Ranch rounded out the non-playoff teams.
The bi-district round will kick off Monday, with two games being played at Jordan and two games being played at Wheeler Field House.
Katy (29-2), the No. 1 seed out of the district, will take on Ridge Point (14-15) which finished fourth in District 20-6A, the two will face off at 7 p.m. Monday at Wheeler Field House. The game will be part of a doubleheader, as Seven Lakes (20-13) will play Fort Bend Austin (29-3), which finished second in District 20-6A.
Katy comes into the game fresh off a district championship and with high expectations, Ridge Point has been back and forth in district play and comes off a 61-41 win over Fort Bend Travis.
The Spartans have been on a very hot run lately, winning seven straight games and handing Katy its only loss in district play, they’ll go up against a team in Fort Bend Austin that has been strong all year and will be looking for revenge after losing to Seven Lakes in the regional quarterfinal round last season, 69-44, in a game where Justice Carlton scored 42 points.
Cinco Ranch (24-10) will kick off the doubleheader at Jordan when the Cougars face off against Fort Bend Hightower (30-3) at 5:30 p.m., the Cougars will be looking to bounce back from their loss against Seven Lakes but will face a very tough challenge against Hightower, which has lost just three games all season and are winners of eight straight heading into the matchup.
Tompkins (26-7) will take on Fort Bend Elkins (19-13) in the second game of the night at Jordan, with tip off coming at 7 p.m.
The Falcons came out second in district and will face of against the third seed Elkins. Tompkins is winners of five straight heading into the matchup, closing the regular season on a very strong note, while Elkins, the three seed out of District 20-6A, come off a win over Fort Bend Dulles as they head into the playoffs.
