Two Katy ISD Coaches and coaches from the Seven Lakes tree earned big honors last week, being named coaches of the year by the Texas Girls Coaches Association for their work this past year in soccer.

Seven Lakes assistant coach Steven Poss was named the TGA’s Sub Varsity Coach of the Year and Seven Lakes Junior High’s Caitlin Rolens was named the TGCA’s Middle School Coach of the Year.

Poss came to Seven Lakes in 2021 and has been instrumental in getting players ready to play at the varsity level and helping Seven Lakes head coach Kaitlyn Eidson and the varsity program to their success.

Poss, a graduate of Mayde Creek, was the head coach at Klein Cain for four years before coming to Seven Lakes and since he has gotten to the Spartans the varsity program has won three straight district titles and reached at least the third round of the playoffs every year, with their best year coming this year, when the Spartans went all the way to the Class 6A State Semifinals.

Rolens has led a junior high program that has year in and year out been one of the best in Houston and sent strong talent to the high school level and both were rewarded for their contributions to soccer in the state of Texas.
