Katy and Taylor kept up their undefeated starts to district on Tuesday, setting up a matchup on Friday between the two sides tied for first place in district. Mayde Creek bounced back with a win over Morton Ranch and Tompkins kept pace in the playoff race with a win over Paetow.

Fechner has big day in win over Seven Lakes

Katy stayed undefeated in district with a 15-0 run rule win over Seven Lakes, getting a big performance from Brooke Fechner at the plate, as she had four RBIs, while Cameryn Harrison and Lauren Soeken combined to pitch a perfect game. Katy improved to 22-1-1 on the year and 7-0 in district with the win.

Harrison got Katy on the board in the top o the first on a one-run double and Ella-Kate Smith doubled the lead on another single, then Fechner drove in two on a single to make it 4-0 after the first inning.

Hailey Gore hit a two-run homer to start off the second and Maddie Smith kept it going, driving in two on a single, before Fechner drove in one more on a double, Soeken hit a single to drive in another, Lexie Waugh hit a single to drive in one, Harrison singled in another and Montgomery Henderson capped off the inning with a one-run single as Katy led 13-0 after two innings. Katy added a sacrifice fly from Fechner and a home run from Soeken in the third inning to seal the win.

Ryma Chakraborty took the mound for Seven Lakes and went two innings, allowing 12 earned runs on 14 hits while walking four. The Spartans fell to 1-6 in district with the loss.

Taylor tops Paetow

Taylor kept up its winning ways by beating Paetow 7-2 and improving to 14-8 overall and 7-0 in district play. The Mustangs got two RBIs from Alyssa Sharrock and Kenna Irvin while Ari Hughes pitched a complete game and allowed just one hit and two runs, striking out seven and walking seven.

Paetow took the lead in the first inning when Alexis Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly, but Taylor tied it in the bottom of the first when Kaelyn Lerma hit a solo home run. Paetow retook the lead in the third on a bases loaded walk, but Taylor answered back in the bottom of the inning, with Katelyn Wentzler singled home a run to tie the game and Sharrock hit a 2-run single and Irvin drove in two more on a single. Izzy Allen hit a solo home run in the fourth for the Mustangs final run and Taylor held on the rest of the way to seal the win.

Jiselle Lopez started at pitcher for Paetow and went 2.2 innings, allowing six earned runs on six hits while striking out and walking three. Paetow fell to 13-13 and 3-4 in district play with the loss.

Tompkins offense leads way over Jordan

Tompkins earned an 8-3 win over Jordan on Tuesday, using a balanced offense and strong pitching to beat Jordan and improve to 8-9 with a 4-3 district record this year. Leah Gershman led the Falcosn with two RBIs, while Samantha Crumrin had a strong day on the mound, pitching a complete game and allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out six and walking three.

Tompkins went ahead in the third inning on a steal of home and Lex Cebrero doubled home two more runs as the Falcons went up by three. Tompkins kept it going the next inning, getting runs on a Leah Gershman single, a Cami Hearn single and two off an error. Gershman got an eighth run off a Gershman single. Jordan got three runs down the stretch, getting runs on a Ryan McIntosh home run, a bases loaded walk and a passed ball, but weren’t able to get any more as Tompkins came away with the win.

McIntosh had the teams only RBI on her solo home run and also pitched a complete game, allowing five earned runs on 11 hits while striking out three and walking two. Jordan fell to 7-10 and 2-5 in district with the loss.

Mayde Creek run rules Morton Ranch

Mayde Creek earned a big run rule 19-3 win over Morton Ranch on Tuesday, with Shy’Lynn Brown leading the way with a big day. Brown had four hits and five RBIs, including a home run while also pitching four innings and allowing no earned runs on two hits while striking out eight and walking one. Mayde Creek improved to 4-4 in district with the win.

The Rams jumped ahead right away, scoring 11 runs in the first inning. Brown got it started with a 2-run single, another run came in on an error, Jazmine Rodriguez hit an RBI single, Isabel Lopez added another RBI single, an Eva Tyler single gave Mayde Creek a seventh run, Jalia Osborne added another along with Brown, who added two more on a single and the Rams got an 11^th on a sacrifice grounder.

Morton Ranch got two runs back in the second, scoring both on errors, but Mayde Creek answered back with Brown hitting a solo home run and A’Niyah Talley hitting an RBI single. Morton Ranch got one run back on a bases loaded walk in the third but Mayde Creek scored six in the fourth to seal the win.

Gisselle Sanchez had Morton Ranch’s only RBI while Bailey Hays started on the mound and went four innings, allowing 15 earned runs on 16 hits, waking five and striking out two.  Morton Ranch fell to 0-7 in district with the loss.
