Red dirt country singer Stoney LaRue has been announced as the Sunday headliner for the City of Katy’s Rice Festival, the city said in a Facebook post on June 18. “After two decades in the spotlight and over a million albums and singles sold, Stoney LaRue makes his way to the main stage at Katy Rice Harvest Festival on Sunday, October 13th,” the post said. LaRue’s performance is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on the main stage at the historic plaza in Old Katy, located at Second Street and Avenue C. The annual festival, celebrating Katy’s heritage in rice farming, will be October 12 and 13 and is co-sponsored by the City of Katy and the Rotary Club of Katy.

Tickets go on sale July 1st at katyriceharvestfestival.com

“Stoney LaRue joining the festival has added a level of excitement from our sponsors, vendors, and community,” said Kaci Maris, tourism and marketing event coordinator for the City of Katy in an email to the Katy Times. “The support we received from the City of Katy Mayor Dusty Thiele, council members and especially the Convention & Tourism Bureau Board has made it possible to pursue incredible artists and allow us to attract a whole new audience for our annual festival. Everyone at the City is working very hard to create the most unique, fun, and exciting Katy Rice Harvest Festival and showing all our visitors why we call Katy, your hometown. We can’t wait to have everyone come out in October and we know Stoney will close us out with an epic performance.”

LaRue, born in Taft, Texas but was raised in Oklahoma, where he got his start playing country music in bars in the college town of Stillwater, a city considered to be the center of red dirt music. Red dirt is a genre of country music that gets its name from the color of soil found in Oklahoma. #stoneylarue2024tour #doublelive2025
