O’Brien takes home GHVCA Setter of the Year honors

Kassie O’Brien headlined this year’s Greater Houston Volleyball Caoches Association Postseason Awards, being named the setter of the year for the greater Houston area after helping Cinco Ranch to a state final appearance and a District 19-6A title.

O’Brien takes home GHVCA Setter of the Year honors

Kassie O’Brien headlined this year’s Greater Houston Volleyball Caoches Association Postseason Awards, being named the setter of the year for the greater Houston area after helping Cinco Ranch to a state final appearance and a District 19-6A title.

O’Brien was joined in the specialty awards by her head coach, Danielle Wells, who won Co-Coach of the year honors for leading Cinco Ranch to a 38-6 record while going undefeated in district play and claiming a Region III-6A Title.

Wells shared the coach of the year honors with Grand Oaks head coach Morgan Rodgers. Grand Oaks won the state title this year and were rewarded with team of the year as well as Jaela Auguste winning player of the year and Halle Thompson winning hitter of the year.

Katy ISD was represented throughout the post season team. Cinco Ranch recipients included Emily Killam, Makenna Loo and Gabi Martinez as well as O’Brien, Jordan placed Leah Hoss on the team, Katy placed Montgomery Henderson on the team while Taylor had Vanessa Eregie get named to the team. Seven Lakes had four members named to the team in Sameena Burns, Megan Chapman, Simone Romriell and Temi Sam-Olibale and Tompkins placed two on the team in Erica Dellesky and Callie Funk. Honorable mentions included Jordan’s Ella Koch and Abby O’Shay, Katy’s Kennedy Pike and Tompkins’ Caelyn Dumas, Brooklynn Marrell and Christin Cowart.
