Prior to the Katy Taste Fest event which attracted huge crowds to Typhoon Texas on March 2, event organizers held a “Partner Appreciation Night” at the Red River Grill at the waterpark in order to recognize event sponsors and – more importantly – to award the 2023 Beneficiary Awards. Each year Katy Taste Fest selects worthy organizations from the surrounding area to share in the profits from the annual food festival.
The following organizations received funding during the February 28th ceremony:
· Katy Christian Ministries - $ 5000
· Krause/Upbring - $2500
· Mesa- Outreach - $4000
· Keturah’s Haven - $1000
· Young Life Capernaum - $1000
· Clothed by Faith - $1000
· Lunches of Love - $1000
· Sunshine Thru the Rain - $2000
Since its inception in 2018, Katy Taste Fest has donated over $100,000.00 to local nonprofits.
“What makes Katy Taste Fest truly special is its commitment to community philanthropy,” said organizer and local businessman Cyril Thomas. “The festival’s primary mission is to increase awareness of the needs in the community and showcase local non-profits that help fill those needs. Being entirely volunteer operated, our event is dedicated towards supporting local and international non-profits.”
