Harris County Precinct 4 announced via Facebook in early February that the office is hiring for summer internship programs. “We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, offering positions for both college students and high school leaders,” said the post. The program includes a paid eight-week internship during which participants will receive coaching and mentoring from Harris County Precinct 4 leaders. Applications may be made at https://bit.ly/42kS9BO until March 15th.
The precinct is also seeking talented artists – specifically from Katy ISD – for its “From Palette to Pavement” bus design contest. Commissioner Lesley Briones is calling all budding artists to help beautify county buses with artwork that “reflects the cultural perspectives and experiences of our community.” The county bus fleet services the senior community, offering free day trips including recreational and educational activities.
“From students, we want to see their visual representation of the history and unity in Harris County,” said Briones in the post. “Through this theme, teacher can talk to students about the changemakers and leaders that helped shape our community.” Artwork can reflect a person or people that mean something t the student. Students can also find visual representations of historical moments or physical landmarks that are meaningful to their culture or community, the post continued.
Art may be submitted at bit.ly/buscontest2023. The student’s name, along with the name of their teacher is required, along with grade level and school district. Harris County Precinct 4 will be accepting submissions for the next few month, the press office said. For more information, please call the precinct office at (832) 927-4444.
