Three restaurants that hit the Katy area in 2019

Howdy friends and neighbors. I hope everyone has had a great start to 2020. With the new year in full swing, I wanted to bring everyone's attention to a few restaurants that opened in 2019. These should be on your "must visit" list if you have not been to them already.

That's My Dog
22635 Morton Ranch Road
Katy, TX. 77449
830-274-7532

Kevin and Ryan Muccular opened their brick and mortar location in June. Since then their team has been working hard at bringing our area some of the best gourmet hot dogs. They have a dog that will please everyone.

The BBQ Beef Brisket Dog is topped with brisket, diced onions and tomatoes along with their signature barbecue sauce, That Sauce, which can be purchased in store.

The Ratatouille Dog is a 100% soy protein topped with smoked eggplant, zucchini, onions, bell peppers and finished with diced tomatoes.

Don't snooze on the loaded fries either. The Frito Pie Fries come topped with chili, queso, sour cream, diced tomatoes and Fritos for that crunch.

They are open Tuesday - Saturday 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Soul Food Sundays are from 11 a.m.m - 6 p.m. with a unique menu each week. Follow them on Facebook for more updates.

Duck n Bao
510 S. Mason Road
Katy, Texas 77450

Duck n Bao came to Katy in August and what really got me excited to try their menu is the Peking Duck. This roasted duck recipe has been around for hundreds of years and takes 48 hours to prepare. Call them the day before to request a duck for your meal and you will be eating like an Emperor!

Their Soup Dumplings are a must-try. They make them in house and right in front of you when you walk in. These little works of art come in eleven different styles. I have loved every single one that I have tried.

Duck n Bao also offer a few varieties of noodles and some great appetizers as well. Be sure to stop by soon and see what all of the buzz is about!

Beer Biryani and Kabab

Beer Biryani and Kabab opened in March and have quickly become one of the top Indian food destinations in Katy. They took over the old Cane Island location on 1463 and really changed the feel of the restaurant.

I recently visited and it was my first foray into Indian cuisine. Everything I tried was full of flavor and this first visit will certainly not be the last.

If you can handle spice, I recommend the Chicken Vindaloo. It has a great kick but doesn’t drown out the other flavors of the dish. Pair this with their garlic naan and basmati rice and you will not leave hungry.

I also have to praise their Chilli Mushrooms which are served as an appetizer and contain mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and a chilli sauce. This was easily one of my favorite dishes of the evening. I can definitely see myself at their bar having a drink and an order of chilli mushrooms.

A final stand out for this location is the full bar. They have many beers on tap and a large wine and liquor selection. This is a great go-to restaurant if you’re wanting a drink to try something new.

The Katy area is lucky to have such diverse cuisine, and I am sure these restaurants will continue leaving their mark on the local food scene.
