Tommy Golbow was born on May 11, 1930 in Houston, Texas. He grew up in the town of Addicks, Texas, and after high school, he served his country in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne. After the military, he returned to his father’s auto repair business, “Joe’s Garage.” On June 16, 1955, Tommy married the love of his life, Bernice Hoffpauir.

In 1961, Tommy and Bernice started their own garage and wrecker service in Katy, Texas, where they raised their two sons, Eric and Jeff. Tommy and Bernice were very involved in the First Baptist Church of Katy, where they taught Sunday school for many years. On June 30, 1977, Tommy received a proclamation from the City if Katy for 20 years of service to the community. He was also an honorary member of the Westlake Fire Department. Tommy was always a strong supporter of our local fire and police departments.

Tommy Golbow passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the age of 89.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bernice in August of 2019; his parents, Joe and Lorraine Golbow; and a brother, Stanley Golbow.

He is survived by his sons, Eric Golbow and his wife Cheryl, and Jeff Golbow and his wife Jo Ann; grandchildren, Kristen Withers and her husband Bert, Scott Golbow and his wife Maizie, Erin Rodgers and her husband Tony, Sydney Golbow, Amanda Voigt and her husband Mitch, and Lance Zuckerman and his wife Sarah; great grandchildren, Mackenzie, T.J., Eli, Presley, Emyrson, Jacques and Baby Bert; brother Walter Lee Golbow; brothers-in-law, Stanley Hoffpauir and his wife Donna, Charles Ince and wife Linda and Ennis Schneider; niece, Amy Hoffpauir Hansen and her husband Dean; and nephew Ben Hoffpauir and his wife Debbie.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel, in Katy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Katy’s First Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Webb officiating. Interment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Golbow, Ben Hoffpauir, Mitch Voigt, Stan Crane, Scott Schap, and Alex Mandy. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Lee Golbow, Ennis Schneider, Stanley Hoffpauir,and Keith Barbier.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Texas Towing and Storage Association in his name.
