Special Pals Animal Shelter, a beloved cornerstone of the community, celebrated its 45th anniversary with a special gathering on August 16 at the shelter at 3830 Greenhouse in Houston.
“For nearly half a century, Special Pals has been dedicated to saving the lives of countless pets in need, providing them with loving homes and the care they deserve,” said organizers in a press release prior to the event.
The evening included refreshments, fun, memories, and a renewed commitment to saving lives, including: · Meet and greet with adoptable pets currently looking for their forever homes. · Special presentations from staff and volunteers who have been part of the shelter’s 45-year journey.
· Fundraising activities to help the shelter reach its $45,000 fundraising goal to continue its mission. “This anniversary is a celebration of our community’s unwavering support and the countless lives that have been saved because of it,” said Becky French, Director of Special Pals. “We’re excited to welcome everyone to the shelter to share in this special occasion and continue making a difference together.”
The shelter is in need of volunteers, foster homes and donations of pet food, in addition to adoption of pets, said French in an interview with the Katy Times.
