Snappy’s to host fundraiser for Camp Hope Saturday

Posted

June is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month. June also marks the one-year anniversary of Anna Liu’s purchase of Snappy’s Restaurant, 5803 Highway Blvd.

To both support a worthy cause and to commemorate the anniversary, Liu wanted to lead a community support project. Among the regular customers at Snappy’s is Catherine Reilly, who owns DMR Mortgage in Katy. Liu said Reilly has had a successful business and is celebrating her 24th year in business.

Liu said she wanted to do something for the community. Reilly said she was ready to get things moving again after the pandemic.

“I wanted to do fundraisers,” Reilly said. “Anna picked this. She called me and asked, are you ready to do something? I said yes.”

The two organized a fundraiser, set for Saturday at the restaurant, where two free pancakes will be served for every donation to Camp Hope, which works with PTSD victims.

Reilly said the idea came, in part, because the restaurant has many customers who are police officers and other first responder personnel. PTSD affects many first responders, but it also affects their families and friends.

“There are a lot of police officers that come and eat there,” Reilly said. “June is PTSD Awareness Month. She wanted to do a fundraiser with PTSD. I said, I’m in.”
