Memorial Hermann Katy celebrates 40th anniversary

This November, Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital is celebrating 40 years of providing health care to the residents of Katy and West Houston.

“It has been an incredible four decades of quality and compassionate care at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital,” said Jerry Ashworth, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Katy and Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospitals.

When Katy Hospital first opened in 1981 on Pin Oak Road, it had 100 beds, four operating rooms and two delivery rooms. Over the years, that small hospital grew as the community did, eventually relocating and expanding into what is now known as Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital.

Memorial Hermann Katy is now a 208-bed facility featuring a Level III Trauma Center, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and also serves as a Memorial Hermann Life Flight base for the west Houston metro area. Within the past five years, the campus has opened a 24/7 pediatric emergency department and inpatient unit, as well as the Memorial Hermann Sports Park-Katy, a full-range sports medicine facility that provides medical care and athletic training.

“As the community around us continues to grow, our campus will keep up with the demand by expanding services and specialties to meet the needs of the Katy-area,” Ashworth said.
