The Katy ISD Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Monday evening to discuss the district’s Safe Return to School Plan and hear an update on statewide legal proceedings related to COVID-19 protocols.
The meeting, to be held at the KISD Education Support Complex located at 6301 S. Stadium Lane in Katy. It will include a public hearing to allow district residents to voice their opinions regarding the plan. Ongoing legal battles against Governor Greg Abbott’s executive orders against mask mandates with local municipalities such as Harris and Fort Bend counties as well as multiple other school districts have placed cities and school districts in limbo as they try to determine the best course of action to keep students and residents safe.
It is unknown if the KISD Board of Trustees will vote on any sort of mask mandate.
Additional upcoming meetings for the board will occur Sept. 13 for a team building workshop and the district’s next regular board meeting on Sept. 27.
