In response to the impact of Hurricane Beryl, President Biden has approved a major disaster declaration for Texas, extending federal funding to 67 counties including Fort Bend, Harris, and Waller County for recovery efforts, according to a press release from the City of Katy.
Concurrently, Mayor William H. Thiele signed a Declaration of Local State of Disaster on the morning of July 11 for the City of Katy, in order to enhance local response and recovery efforts combatting Hurricane Beryl's effects. This action enables Katy to potentially receive reimbursement, aiding in the city’s recovery efforts and debris management following Hurricane Beryl, city staff said.
