Katy ISD has once again earned recognition for its financial management, earning a Transparency Star designation in Traditional Finances from the Data Analysis and Transparency Division of the Texas Comptroller’s Public Account Office, the district announced in a June 27 press release.
“Our internal departments work diligently to steward our taxpayers’ dollars with the utmost integrity and to keep the public informed of how money is being allocated and spent,” said Ken Gregorski, Katy ISD’s superintendent of schools. “We appreciate the state’s continued recognition of our school district’s efforts.”
As part of its review, the state ensures that the district provides financial information, including budgets, reports and summaries, to the public in clear and easily accessible formats.
The Transparency Stars program launched in March 2016 to recognize Texas cities, counties, school districts and special purpose districts that work toward greater government transparency. The Comptroller’s Office routinely updates its list of Transparency Star awardees as entities are evaluated throughout the fiscal year.
