Katy City Council passes agenda in brief meeting

Katy City Council approved all items on the agenda for its regular meeting Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. Council members moved quickly to approve nine resolutions and a short consent agenda before closing the gathering.

Consent agenda items are minor issues that can generally be approved or rejected en-masse without extensive discussion. Consent agenda items included:

  • Approval of meeting minutes for council’s September 2021 meetings.
  • Approval of the Katy Half Marathon on Feb. 12, 2022.
  • Approval of Naomi’s Birthday Bash and Dash 5K and Family Fun Run to be held Nov. 28.
  • Closure of streets on Nov. 5 for the city’s Movie Night on the Plaza event during which the city will show the Disney film “Onward.”
  • Approval of $1,000 in dues to the West I-10 Chamber of Commerce.
  • Acceptance of public improvements to Innovation Drive and Pitts Road within Cane Island.
  • Acceptance of the Spring Green Utility Extension Project to improve water service near that area.

The council also approved resolutions to:

  • Replace water meters through a roughly $292,000 contract with Aqua Metric out of Selma, Texas.
  • Approve an easement access agreement for Woodcreek Pin Oak, Ltd. For the Katy Main Street project.
  • Authorize Katy Mayor Bill Hastings to sign a contract with Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP to perform various collections duties for the city.
  • Authorize the mayor to sign a contract extension for IDEMIA Identity & Security USA, LLC to maintain the Katy Police Departments LiveScan System.
  • Authorize the mayor to sign an agreement with Nearmap U.S., Inc. to provide aerial photography services.
  • Authorize the mayor to sign an amendment to the agreement with Tyler Technologies for software utilized by the Katy Police Department.
  • Extend the agreement with Konica Minolta Business Solutions for copier leases for the city.
  • Authorize Harris-Waller Counties Municipal Utility District No. 3 to issue unlimited tax road bonds in the amount of $2.86 million for road construction in Cane Island.
