The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) announced in a November 11 press release that David Munnilal is this year’s recipient of the prestigious Plant Manager of the Year award for 2024.

Munnilal, who works for Primo Water (now Primo Brands) at its Sparklett’s plant in Katy, has been a transformative leader in the bottled water industry since 2003. He was awarded the title during the association’s awards ceremony as part of the 2024 IBWA Annual Business Conference held in Chicago, November 4-7.

“David started as an equipment service supervisor, and he rapidly advanced, growing Primo Water’s Texas customer base and ensuring his plant’s readiness for success. By 2005, David had become production supervisor in Katy, overseeing both five- and one-gallon production lines. His commitment to operational excellence earned him the role of plant manager, where he now leads all aspects of the facility,” said IBWA Convention Committee Co-Chair Joe Bell.

“Under David’s guidance, the Katy plant has become one of Primo Water’s highest-performing locations, serving as both a best-practices model and a training ground for new plant managers,” Bell said. “In 2024, David’s leadership extended to supporting another plant in need, helping stabilize its operations and customer service. His achievements are remarkable: zero injuries in the past year, 19 consecutive IBWA Excellence in Manufacturing awards, and the 2023 Primo Water Quality Award. Through ongoing certifications and a dedication to safety and quality, David exemplifies commitment to excellence.”

IBWA has been recognizing the efforts of bottled water industry professionals since 1963. As ambassadors of the bottled water industry, plant managers ensure, on a daily basis, that bottled water is safe, healthy hydration. The IBWA Plant Manager of the Year award recognizes their hard work and dedication to their companies and the bottled water industry.
