Judith “Judy” Farley passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at the age of 78 years. She was born on June 28, 1942, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Emil and Evelyn Denchfield. She remained in St. Cloud until she met and married Edward “Edd” Farley on July 31, 1965. They moved to Arizona, Illinois, and then settled in Texas. Judy worked many years in the oil and gas industry until her retirement, of which more than 20 years were spent at Amoco. She called Katy home for more than 35 years and raised their daughters here.
Judy lived by her faith, family, and friends. She was a devoted wife, involved mother, and caring friend to all. She was a dedicated member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and Katy Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a long-time member of Holy Covenant United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Colleen Farley (Brad Barker) and Erinn Brown (Kevin), all of Katy, and grandchildren Ashlee Riegler, Austin Riegler, Collin Barker, Macie Brown and Mason Brown. Additionally, Judy is survived by her youngest sister, Phyllis Mergen (Ralph) of St. Paul, Minnesota and numbers of other loving relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edd Farley on April 19, 2015; and her parents, three brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2020, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel, in Katy, with Rev. C. McAllister “Mac” Vaughn officiating. The family encourages friends and family to join the service virtually due to COVID restrictions.
In lieu of flowers, please consider gifting to the Children’s Heart Foundation as this organization was near and dear to Judy’s heart or to a charity near and dear to you.
