In observance of World AIDS Day, Fort Bend County Judge KP George, in collaboration with Katy Pride, First Christian Church of Katy, and Fort Bend Health and Human Services, hosted the inaugural Fort Bend County AIDS Walk on Friday, December 1, 2023.

The event marks the beginning of a long-term commitment to raise awareness and support for those affected by HIV/AIDS within the community, said the judge’s office in a press release.

“This initiative is more than just a walk; it's a unifying force, bringing together community members, organizations, and local leaders with a shared mission—to raise awareness, combat stigma, and express solidarity with individuals affected by HIV/AIDS,” stated Fort Bend County Judge KP George.

The historic Fort Bend County Courthouse located at 401 Jackson St., Richmond served as the starting point. The route, spanning over ½ mile (0.63 miles), wound through the heart of Richmond providing a symbolic journey in support of those affected by HIV/AIDS.
