Fort Bend County is expanding a section of Katy Flewellen Road from two lanes to four lanes to accommodate more traffic.
The expansion begins on Willow Lane and extends north of Gaston Road. The project began construction last January, but paused in November.
“The Katy Flewellen project construction is scheduled to be complete in June 2022,” Ike Akinwande, Fort Bend County assistant county engineer, said. “The funding can be generally stated as coming from ‘mobility bonds’ rather than a specific bond year.”
The estimated cost is $3.4 million. Akinwande said this project captured what the county had for the Katy area at this time.
Katy Flewellen Road runs southwest from Pin Oak Road to Spring Green Road. Other than the area under construction, the road has four lanes.
